In April we welcomed Brendan Carr to the Collins & May team as a Senior Associate.
Brendan has many years legal experience, in private practice, in-house working for corporations and a brief stint working in a government department.
Brendan was born and bred in Lower Hutt, but his legal career has taken him all over the world including to London, England, the Cayman Islands and Vancouver, Canada. He is now back settled in Lower Hutt with his family and enjoying meeting Collins & May’s great clients.

We sat down with Brendan and asked him a few questions to get to know him better:
Q: What has surprised you at Collins and May?
The variety of clients. Since starting here, I have helped out people from all walks of life and in many different phases of their life. It makes for lots of interesting encounters – there’s never a dull moment!
Q: What is the last concert you went to?
I went to a great Caribbean Reggae band at Rogue and Vagabond a few weeks ago. The last big concert I went to was Billy Joel in Auckland. What a great night!
Q: Where was your last trip?
A family trip to Wanaka to do some skiing and sightseeing.
Q: What is your favourite TV show?
I’ll watch pretty much anything sport related on TV – I’ve even been known to watch curling! My favourite actual show was probably Breaking Bad.
Q: What is your favourite board game?
I enjoy lots of board games – Risk is one of my favourites. But I’ve recently learnt to play bridge and that dominates any time I have for games, so I’ve not played many board games lately.
Q: What is your favourite season?
Probably has to be summer – but only when the wind is not blowing! Although winter is great if I’m near somewhere that I can ski.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
I try to keep active – I play golf, walk our dog, Luna and paddle board when I can. I enjoy just spending time with my family up the coast at our Bach.
Whenever I can I particularly love to travel, especially if it’s somewhere warm where I can scuba dive.
Q: Where’s your favourite travel destination?
I’ve been fortunate to travel to lots of really great places. I love places with lots of history and that are a bit different. I did the Trans-Mongolia railway journey from St. Petersburg, through Russia and Mongolia to China and that is definitely a highlight.
