Firm History

Lloyd Collins Law Office commenced business on the 6th floor of Collins and May Building on Wednesday, 1 April 1992. Both Lloyd Collins and Paul May were partners in the firm Phillips Nicholson (now DLA Piper), which practiced law on the 4th and 5th floors of the building.

Phillips Nicholson changed its name to Phillips Fox as from 1 April 1992 and in conjunction with that decided to close down its Lower Hutt operation. Lloyd Collins then commenced practice on his own account. He started work with one staff member.

Paul May joined the firm on 1 December 1992 and the firm changed its name to Collins and May Law Office. Eugene Collins subsequently joined the partnership.

The firm moved to its current location on the 4th floor on 1 July 1993.

In 2007 the firm shortened its name to become Collins & May Law.

On 1 April 2019 Lloyd moved into a consultancy role.

Amy Haste, Eugene Collins and Simone Sedon are now directors of the firm and work together with one associate and five solicitors.
