It is with much sadness that we have to announce that after 30 years at Collins & May Law and over 40 years in the legal profession, our firm’s founder, Lloyd Collins retired on 30 June 2022.

On 1 April 1992, over 30 years ago, Lloyd decided to start his own practice after Phillips Nicholson (Now DLA Piper) decided to close their Lower Hutt office.

Lloyd started Lloyd Collins Law Office which later became Collins & May Law after Paul May joined the firm on 1 December 1992.

When Lloyd first started practicing on his own, he had one support staff member working alongside him. Now, Collins & May has expanded more than Lloyd ever anticipated, with us now having three Directors, one Associate, five Staff Solicitors, one Law Clerk and seven support staff.

The team at Collins & May are sad to see Lloyd go, however we will always be grateful for his experience and knowledge of the law that he has taught us over the years.

He has been a mentor to generations of young lawyers throughout his career. He has instilled in those lawyers the importance of professional service and a positive attitude. He leaves these attributes with us all for which we are eternally grateful.

Whilst we are sad to be losing our founder, we wish Lloyd all the best as he moves on to hopefully a much more relaxed and less stressful lifestyle.

To Lloyd, we say a huge thank you. Enjoy your retirement, it is so deserved!
