In February, we were delighted to welcome Michael Meyer to the Collins and May team as a Law Clerk.
Michael recently completed a double degree in Law and Psychology at the University of Otago. A born-and-bred Wellingtonian, Michael grew up in Lower Hutt before heading south to Dunedin to pursue his studies.

I sat down with Michael to learn a little more about him:
Q: Why did you choose to study Law?
A: When I started university, I wasn’t completely sure what career I wanted to follow. Having grown up in a family of lawyers, I decided to give law a go, and quickly discovered that I really enjoyed it—especially understanding how the law influences society and day to day life.
Q: What are your hobbies outside of work?
A: In my spare time, I enjoy running and playing football for my local club. To unwind, I like catching up with friends and heading to the pub on a Friday for an after-work drink.
Q: What was the last concert or music event you attended?
A: Over summer, I drove up to the Coromandel with friends to attend Coro Classic. The music was great, the weather was perfect, and the day was made even better by spending it with good mates.
Q: Favourite TV show, movie, or book?
A: My favourite book is Animal Farm. My favourite movie is The Perks of Being a Wallflower (which I think is far better than the book, which I found a bit underwhelming!)
Q: Your go-to coffee order?
A: An almond latte is my go-to. If almond milk isn’t available, I’ll happily opt for an oat latte.
Q: Where would you love to travel next?
A: Croatia – particularly the village my grandparents are from. It’s a beautiful area with amazing sunshine and beaches.
Q: Your go-to potluck dish?
A: Some sort of pasta—usually a pumpkin and spinach pasta bake.
Q: One thing you’ve enjoyed about Collins and May so far?
A: The exposure to a wide range of tasks as well as how welcoming and friendly everyone has been.
