In February we welcomed Nicki Morrell to the Collins and May Law Team as a Registered Legal Executive.
Nicki recently completed her Diploma in Legal Executive Studies after a 25-year work history as a Graphic Designer, Marketing Executive and Project Manager.
Nicki is a born and bred Wellingtonian, having grown up in Silverstream and attending Victoria University to complete a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design.

We sat down with Nicki and asked her a few questions to get to know her a bit better:
Q: Why did you retrain as a Legal Executive?
A: I was looking for a new challenge and at the time I was applying for resource consents for new digital billboards. I enjoyed the challenge of local body regulations and working alongside lawyers and urban planners to navigation the Resource Management Act, so the idea grew from there.
Q: What has surprised you at Collins and May?
A: The impressive scores the team gets on The Post’s daily quiz, which is attempted everyday morning tea-time.
Q: What is your favourite book?
A: Nelson Mandela – Long Walk to Freedom. We visited Robben Island Museum in Cape Town, which I’ll never forget.
Q: What is the last concert you went to?
A: Coldplay! It was epic but over too quickly.
Q: Where was your last trip?
A: My nieces wedding in beautiful Queenstown and afterwards we biked the Dunstan trail which was outstanding.
Q: What is your go-to dish to take to a potluck?
A: Hmm, I leave that department to my husband, as he is a Chef. He would probably bring Moussaka and his homemade slaw.
Q: What is your favourite TV show?
A: The Handmaids Tale, I love the strength of the lead character, June.
Q: What is your favourite board game?
A: The card game, UNO, as it’s short and painless for the whole family! It gets played a lot when we go camping and it rains!
Q: What is your favourite season?
A: I would have said Spring as it brightens the spirit, but I hate the wind, so I’ll say Autumn – it is still mild and pleasant enough to be outdoors while the mornings and nights are cooler. I love the changing colour of the leaves on the trees in the Hutt.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: I like to keep active at the gym, go swimming or take my miniature schnauzer on walks and of course running around after my three teenage children.
