With the year nearly at an end, we thought we would look back at 2022 and celebrate the year that has been.

At the beginning of the year, we welcomed a new solicitor – Kate Woodd to the Collins & May team.  Kate is originally from Tauranga and studied at Victoria University.  She works alongside both Eugene Collins and Amy Haste on litigation, employment, estates, trusts and property matters.

In April, we celebrated Caitlin MacDonald becoming an Associate of the Firm.  Caitlin has been working at Collins & May since 2019 and as an Associate is now working in a supervisory role as well as practising as a Solicitor.  Caitlin is a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the Collins & May team and we are excited to watch as she takes on this new challenge.

In April, we also celebrated the appointment of Simone Seddon as the newest Director to the Firm.  Simone has been with Collins & May since October 2013.  Check out our blog post from September 1st to read more about Simone and what she hopes to bring to her new role.

In June, Julia Bacon was admitted to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.  Julia has been a member of the Collins & May team since December 2021.  We congratulate Bacon on her amazing achievement and all of her hard work.

At the end of June, we farewelled a much loved and valued member of the Collins & May team – Lloyd Collins.  Lloyd started Lloyd Collins Law Office in 1992, which went on to become Collins & May Law.  Although we were sad to see him go, we remain grateful for his knowledge and guidance over the years and wish him all the best during his much-deserved retirement.

Although we farewelled Lloyd, we are delighted to still be able to have Kirsten Collins working alongside our team.  Kirsten has stepped into the role of Legal Executive and is working alongside Amy and Caitlin on a variety of files, including providing conveyancing services and assisting with subdivisions and estate work.  Sophie Currin of our office is also training as a Legal Executive while providing a support role to our team.  We congratulate Sophie on her hard work and academic results this year and wish her all the best for her remaining study.

In September, we welcomed Paul May and his team back into the fold.  It has been an exciting few months working together and getting to know each other over Friday drinks and during our morning tea quiz.  It is safe to say our daily quiz scores in the Dominion Post are benefitting from having more people around the morning tea table.  We are all looking forward to a well-deserved summer break and we are excited to see what 2023 has in store for our team.
